When a dealer accepts for trade-in a vehicle that was previously titled in another state, the dealer must complete form HSMV82042: https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/82042.pdf Vehicle Identification Number and Odometer Verification. This form is used to physically verify and certify that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) found on the vehicle matches the paperwork submitted to the dealership.
