New Dealers
When the buyer is purchasing a vehicle and then they will register the vehicle in their own state/out of state. The dealer has the responsibility to provide the buyer with the necessary documentation to complete the registration in the state in which they reside. The dealer will process one temporary tag for the customer. Only one 30 day temporary tag will be issued as it will be the customer’s responsibility to apply for a certificate of title in the state in which they reside within 30 days of delivery of the vehicle. The customer must show proof of insurance before a temporary tag can be issued. There are no exceptions to this rule. Please note that the dealer is still responsible for collecting applicable sales tax due on the sale. Customers paying taxes in Florida but registering the vehicle in another state can visit the Florida Department of Revenue’s website http://www.myflorida.com/dor and http://dor.myflorida.com/dor/tips/tip15a01-01r3.html in order to apply for a credit on taxes paid.
