There is a non-refundable initial fee of $175. This price is set to change as per their website. Please note that there is a separate fee for each additional license that is applicable to you. The application is around ten pages long including the instructions on the first two. The form must be completed in full pertaining to all applicable information before the department can begin to process. Please have all of your information plus the dealers information in order to complete the application.
As soon as you realize what type of license you need, you will begin the application by completing the business information section. Be ready to give all physical addresses for the main business location as well as the location of where the company records will be stored and a mailing address, if different of course. Only one license per county is required for the Motor Vehicle Retail Installment Seller License. We recommended that you include contact information regarding the application during the process.
The next section deals with the entity. Remember to identify properly and in detail the type of entity under which you are applying for. If this is not completed correctly, it will delay the application process. For any type of entity other than a sole proprietorship, you will need information detailing the formation of the business and any registration detail. You will also need to list all directors of the company. They are defined as “Control Persons” in the application. Please note the 10% ownership requirements. If another entity has at least a 10% ownership stake in the applying entity, then you need to list that ownership entity’s information. If any individual has at least a 10% interest in that parent company, that individual’s information must also be disclosed.
The last section of the application deals with regulatory actions and civil litigations. If you answer yes to any of these questions, you must complete a separate Disclosure Reporting Page for every incident in the past or present. Once completed the application, you must sign. Only sole proprietors include their social security numbers.
The last three pages of the application consist of Biographical Summary with regards to all persons listed on the application as “Control Persons”. You will need their personal information including physical addresses and social security numbers. Please note that you must complete a separate Biographical Summary schedule for individual listed on the application. Further, each Biographical Summary should include a Disclosure Reporting Page if applicable.
