New Dealers
As a dealer you could also request an Off-Premise Sale. The most common of these off-premise sales are known as “tent sales” or “blowout sales” (which are very fun especially for a community. These are at times announced by radio) sometimes conducted in parking lots of stadiums, malls, and other high traffic areas. In case that such a sale is something that the dealer is interested in, the dealer must apply for and obtain a supplemental license from the Division of Motorist Services. The Division will generally grant a license for a period of no longer than 10 days at no cost to the dealer. The basic is needed for approval of the off-premise sale:
- Provide specific dates and locations for the off-premise sale
- Clearly disclose the dealer information at the off-premise location
- Provide staff to work at that location for the duration of the sale
- Meet local permitting and zoning requirements
- In the case of a dealer selling new vehicles, appropriate documentation must be submitted evidencing request for permission by the manufacturer. Request must be submitted to the manufacturer 5 days prior to the off-premise sale. Manufacturer will have 2 working days to disapprove or the sale will be deemed approved.
